Wednesday, 26 Jan 2011, 7-9.30 p.m.
Author, blogger and advocate Roger Abravanel presents:
“Rule of Law: 5 Steps For Saving Italy From Itself”“Friedman said you couldn’t have capitalism without the rule of law, which is essential for regulation. But the problem with Italy is that no one observes the rule of law so you can’t have capitalism; you can’t have a free market because there are no rules.” – Roger Abravanel
Italy’s fundamental problems are two: its ineffective laws and its citizens – both corporate and individual – who refuse to obey them. Year after year Italy falls further behind in the indicators assessing economic development, unemployment among the young, research and development and rights of consumers. Meanwhile, corruption, tax evasion and an evermore clogging of the justice system are all on the rise.
All of these failings stem from a single cause that contributes to the degeneration of the system: Italy implements and enforces the wrong rules of law.
Join us for the return of celebrated author, blogger and advocate Roger Abravanel who will discuss what he calls “the vicious circle of rules” in his latest book “Regole.” He will elaborate on his five concrete proposals to remedy the current situation and will demonstrate how creation and enforcement of the right laws are not just the right thing to do but the right thing for business.
“Regole” will be available for purchase at the event with proceeds going to Bocconi University
